Back to School Month
Primary and University students all across the United States are headed back to school this month. #NationalBackToSchoolMonth.
The school year has traditionally begun in the fall and ended in late spring, allowing the children of farmers in our agricultural society to help with planting and harvesting. Though today most families have moved to a more urban and suburban lifestyle, most schools in the United States still function on this system and there is now a growing trend toward year-round school. Yet, no matter when school starts, the importance of education stays constant. As the president said in 2010,
“Your life is what you make of it. And nothing – absolutely nothing – is beyond your reach. So long as you’re willing to dream big. So long as you’re willing to work hard. So long as you’re willing to stay focused on your education.”

Black History Month
During National Black History Month, we celebrate the legacy of Black Americans whose power to lead, to overcome, and to expand the meaning and practice of American democracy has helped our Nation become a more fair and just society.
This country was established upon the profound but simple idea that all people are created equal and should be treated equally throughout their lives.
